Nancy Chege

Ms. Nancy Chege is currently the Country Programme Manager of the Global Environment Facility - Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP) of UNDP in Kenya; a programme that awards grants to civil society organizations to implement projects that contribute to environmental conservation while enhancing local livelihoods.

Prior to joining the team at the GEF SGP, Nancy worked for a range of environmental organizations in the US and in Kenya; these include the Worldwatch Institute - WWI (US); The African Wildlife Foundation (US); the Green Belt Movement - GBM (Kenya); and the National Council of NGOs (Kenya). She is also a member and supporter of several environmental organizations, including Nature Kenya and the East African Wildlife Society.

Nancy completed her tertiary education in the US - at Moravian College in Pennsylvania where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology, and later a Master’s degree in Environmental Management at Duke University in North Carolina.

In her free time, Nancy enjoys being outdoors and is an avid hiker. She occasionally participates in more adventurous activities, such as white-water rafting and mountain climbing, but is also content to camp or picnic with friends and family. Swimming and reading are among her favourite hobbies.
