Prof. Eng. Alex Munyasya Muumbo

He holds a Doctorate degree in Materials Engineering from Nagoya University (Japan), MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management from the University of Bradford (U K) and B. TECH (Hons.) in Production Technology from Moi University (Eldoret – Kenya). He is a mechanical engineer by profession, a Professor of mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Kenya and a mentor with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

Prof. Eng. Muumbo is an accomplished educator with over 30 years’ experience in academics and research, mainly centered on Materials, Energy, Design, Additive/Subtractive manufacturing and Foundry engineering. He has trained industry professionals on; continuous improvement, failure mode and effect analysis, lean manufacturing/administration, change management and total quality management among other short courses.

He has severally participated in initiatives that promoted collaboration between Academia and Industry, particularly on the implementation of Competency Based Education and Training (CBET), as key towards unlocking the third industrial revolution and a green future. He has severally championed community-based engagements as a path to enhancing economic independence, and learning and skills development. Such activities have included; work-based learning, leisure/recreation, community awareness, and income generation.
