2019 HOPE Volunteer Corps - Kenya
Kenya HOPE Volunteer Corps trips have provided a life changing experience for volunteers throughout the years.
In 2019, volunteers will serve at a school in Embu- a county in rural Kenya. Apart from being an academic center, the school is home to 20 orphans who solely depend on the school administration and well-wishers for the provision of all their needs. Participants will paint the school’s dining hall and build tables for the hall. They will also spend time with the children by playing games, mentoring and bonding through arts, crafts and music.
If you are passionate about mentoring young people, we are planning for a motivational career day targeting grade 8 candidates who will be preparing to do their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education National Exams. We also want to encourage elementary teachers to get on board this trip to take part in a skills share workshop that aims to help teachers compare best practices in primary school education and learn from each other in a rich cross- cultural experience.
Participants will take part in a special cultural dinner and sampling of Nairobi’s and Embu’s artifacts and memoirs. They will also be nurtured spiritually as they meet with and spend time with Nairobi and Embu Christian Church members through hangouts and daily devotions.
