DREAMS Initiative

DREAMS initiative is an ambitious partnership to reduce HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women (10-24yrs). The goal of DREAMS is to help girls develop into Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women. It is supported by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Girl Effect.

HOPE worldwide Kenya (HWWK) is among the DREAMS project implementing partners in Nairobi, Kenya. The project is being implemented in Reuben ward, Embakasi Airport ward - Tassia, Mukuru Viwandani ward, Land Mawe ward, Nairobi South ward and Kiambio ward in Nairobi.

DREAMS will target Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) aged 10 – 24 years old

DREAMS INTERVENTIONS: ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA

  1. An AGYW heads a household
  2. Undergoing violence
  3. Teenage mother
  4. A girl aged 10 – 19* and not in school
  5. Child in sex work
  6. Child in Worst Forms of Child Labour (WFCL)
  7. Child who is married
  8. Child out of family care
  9. Child who begs in the street
  10. Child Living with Disability (CLWD)
  11. Child injecting drugs (CIDU)

SERVICE DELIVERY FOR DIFFERENT AGES

AGYW AGED 10 -14 Years can receive most or all the services below

o Healthy choices for a better future I (HCBF)

o My Health my Choice (MHMC)

o Families Matter! Program (FMP)

o Families for Safe Dates (FSD)

o Community mobilization

o HIV Testing and Counselling - HTC

o Social asset building

o Education subsidy

o Post Violence Care / Post Rape Care (PVC/PRC)

AGYW AGED 15 -19 Years can receive most or all the services below

o Healthy choices for a better future II (HCBF)

o SHUGA - Movie

o Condom promotion

o Community mobilization

o Social Asset building

o HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC)

o Risk reduction using RESPECT

o Families for Safe Dates (FSD)

o Combination social Economic Intervention (CSEI)

o Post Violence Care (PVC)

o Family planning (FP)

o Education subsidy

o Cash Transfer (CT)

 

AGYW AGED 20 -24 Years can receive most or all the services below

o SHUGA - Movie

o Condom promotion

o Community mobilization

o Social asset building

o HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC)

o Risk reduction counselling using RESPECT protocol

o Combination social Economic Intervention (CSEI)

o Post Violence Care (PVC)

o Family Planning (FP)

o Education subsidy
