Achieved Milestones in the Bold Idea for Girls (BIG) project

In June 2014, the Bold Idea for Girls project released its first interim report. As one looks back to when the project began in November 2013, the project outcomes reveal the potential that lies within the young women in Mukuru slums, located in the eastern side of Nairobi. Each one of them has a reason to smile as a beaming light of hope penetrates their challenging background.

The project includes a combination of approaches, business; social and scientific innovations to address issues of low social status of girls between 15 – 24 years, and the prevalence rate of many communicable diseases, especially sexually transmitted ones, including HIV & AIDS.

Bold Idea for Girls project is supported by Grand Challenges Canada.

Grand Challenges Canada is funded by the Government of Canada and is dedicated to supporting Bold Ideas with Big Impact in global health.
